Christine McInnis is a decorative artist who works in glass and gold. She paints delicate florals onto glass and lays 23 carat gold behind the images. She draws her inspiration from natural forms and her love of chinoiserie design. The paintings in this exhibition are less clearly representational than her previous work. Her style has become more abstract and fluid, although the precise lining that typifies her style is still present here. Her use of colour has changed quite dramatically. She's no longer using the soft earth pigments of her previous collections, but has turned to a bright vibrant palate.
Christine studied at Edinburgh University and The London College of Furniture before being apprenticed to Rosaria Titian of Titian Studios. She set up her company, London Gilding, 7 years ago. She runs a studio in Primrose Hill where she specialises in all areas of decorative painting and decorative restoration. She has exhibited in Scotland and London, most recently in Notting Hill's 20th Century Theatre for The Moonbeam Trust.
